Valerie Brooks is a writer, director and performer whose narrative work in comedy and drama focuses on environmental health, generational divides, and situational irony.
Brooks films have screened on the PBS Filmmaker Series, at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Miami, Borscht Film Festival, Subtropic Film Festival, and on Nobudge.com. Her work has been commissioned by Oolite Arts in Miami and by Fifth Floor Pictures. In 2019, Brooks was a jury member at the Miami International Film Festival’s Made in Miami grants. In 2023 her short film, “Agita” won the Vanguard Award for Experimental Filmmaking at AOBFF
Brooks is a graduate of Florida State Univerity’s College of Motion Picture Arts.
